Chih-Hsiao Chen is an Associate Professor at the Graduate Institute of Electro-Optical Engineering, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. He received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, and his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the New York University Tandon School of Engineering.
Prior to joining academia, he worked at the Photonic Systems Research Department of Bell Labs, NJ, as well as at Foxconn, Accton Technology, and Delta Electronics. His professional experience spans integrated optics theory formulation, semiconductor laser processing, optical component packaging, optical subsystem design, and optical communication system development.
He has filed more than 80 patents covering hyperscale optical interconnects, silicon photonics, laser imaging, coherence speckle reduction, vehicular networking, and musical instrument acoustics. In addition to his scientific research, he is also a practitioner of Chinese poetry and a Shakuhachi player.
